Imagine a situation where a gun for hire finds out that there are witnesses to murder he just committed.  Let us say an old woman and her a 7-year old grandchild  saw him execute a hapless target.  Will he think twice in breaking their necks?

Surely, these witnesses regardless of age can put him away for good.

What if there are 20 witnesses and all of them are school children or a bunch of nuns or priests? Will there be room for hesitation when he has enough ammunition to mow them down?

I was once told that one murder is nothing different than a series of murders.  One is enough to label a person a murderer.

Criminals even the hardened ones have fallen into this “hesitation trap”.   It seems that they only kill if necessary.  As such they are prone to the silliest mistakes.  There will always be some forgotten eyewitness or bystander.   Or a victim brought back to life by some medical miracle.  Careless omissions that jump back to make a criminal’s life uneasy.

Why does a criminal hesitate?  Is it because he is doing these nefarious deeds in a “business-as-usual” fashion?  A way to avoid collateral damage?

Maybe there is still an ounce of of humanity in a criminal mind.
